The streets got their name because of their separate rock arrangements, sunlight can't reach the street of Cuevas de la Sombra, and it remains dark in there so the people living in this part of Setenil de las Bodegas can have a peaceful night sleep without getting bothered by the golden flashes of sunshine.

Meanwhile, the other street of Cuevas del Sol enjoys the mystic light rays coming out of the sun. Cuevas de la Sombra even has stalactites during winter so that is a plus point for the people visiting Setenil de las Bodegas.
